"I believe there is not a guy on the planet who has not wished his penis had been an inch or two longer," states Michael O'Leary, MD, professor of urologic surgery at Harvard Healthcare College and a urologist at Brigham and Women's Clinic in Boston.
However, after more than a century of usually dubious and occasionally lunatic penis enlargement attempts, there is still not much you are able to do. Sure, you will find lots and lots of intended choices out there -- penis tablets, lotions, brutal stretching workouts, horrific-looking devices, and penis surgery. Almost none of it really works. The couple of approaches that can function often have modest benefits and serious side results. How serious? In a few cases, erectile dysfunction-serious.
"Trust me, if I understood of the way to safely and successfully increase penis dimension, I would be a billionaire," O'Leary tells WebMD. "But I do not. Nobody does."
Still, typical feeling does not stop size-obsessed men from trying extremely sketchy treatments on the vital part of their anatomy -- and jeopardizing a lot within the procedure.
How Little Is really a Little penis?
Think you are smaller sized than typical? You are probably not.
The typical erect penis is generally five to six inches long with a circumference of four to five inches. There is much more variation in the dimension of flaccid penises.
Some guys are truly smaller sized than that. In rare cases, genetics and hormone issues trigger a situation called micropenis -- an erect penis of under three inches. Occasionally Peyronie's disease or prostate most cancers surgical procedure can reduce a guy's dimension.
But research display that the majority of the guys looking for penis enlargement are average-sized. They just believe they're beneath average.
Why? Component of it's viewpoint. It is very difficult to gauge the dimensions of your personal penis -- looking down, you've got a nasty angle.
Psychology performs a role, too. Some average-sized guys turn out to be obsessed with the concept that they're as well little. There's even a psychiatric prognosis: penile dysmorphic disorder. It is much like the perceptual distortion of anorexics who believe they are body fat regardless of how thin they get.
Based on one research, the majority of males who get penis enlargement surgical procedure have this situation. They're also the minimum satisfied with the outcomes.
